Date: September 12, 2004
Exposure: HaRGB : 480:60:60:75 (24 x 1200s - Ha, 20 x 180s - R, G and 15 x 300s B)
Processing: CCDSoftV5 for image acquisition. MaxIm for image calibration,(25 flats each HaRGB, dark subtracted and Sigma Reject combined, 40 bias Sigma Reject combined, 15-1200s Sigma Reject combined). Dead/hot pixel removal, alignment, normalization, color combining. Photoshop CS for final color balance and gradient removal, HaRRGB combine and jpg conversion. I used multiple layers and techniques in Photoshop to try and control the core and reveal some of the innermost details.
Conditions: Average, around mag. 3-4.
Scope: Takahashi FSQ-106N @ f/5
Camera: SBIG ST-10XME/CFW-8, -15°
Comments: Had to take this over 4 nights and between storms to get enough to process. Lost one night to dew as the heaters were not up high enough. The high humidity caused the light pollution to be even worse than usual and I had to shoot most of this one as it rose in the east, dead in the light pollution. New techniques learned at the AIC helped to get this one "in the ballpark".
